Children, and those who are dependent on us due to disability or age, offer us the opportunity to grow in patience, kindness, and love. They teach us that life is a shared gift, not an encumbrance. At the end of life, we will be judged on love alone.
~Cardinal Justin Rigali, Statement for Respect Life Sunday, September 29, 2009.
In partnership with Lyngblomsten, St. Pius X is part of The Gathering’s Northeast Consortium, which is comprised of 10 area churches. The Gathering provides weekly respite for families of loved ones living with early to mid-term dementia. The program offers respite for caregivers and activities, lunch and social opportunities for recipients. Additionally, there is a Memory Loss Caregivers Support Group that meets once a month.
