2019, we say " A New Year" is here. There are many things I like about the sense of newness.... among them is first “renewed HOPE". Also, in my mind is the challenge to get physically fit and more Faithfully fit as well. Of course, like all of us, I make a few additional resolutions, " personal growth" items, I call it.... some kept... some that fade away too quickly. Thus is life, for all of us.... good intentions, not so good follow through.
However, I believe we all share and desire " HOPE" in the new year... we hope for peace within our self, our families, our friends and acquaintances. We hope for peace and prosperity for the country and world, ending insufficient foods and good nutrition. We hope that the human race would cease the actions of violence and war. We hope that law and order would prevail. We hope for health and other private needs.
It is good to have HOPE. God sets this within the three theological virtues... FAITH, HOPE and most important LOVE.
I came across this gentle but meaningful thought from Saint Teresa of Calcutta "Do small things, with great love."
All of us have hope that someone will come to our assistance. Our school youngsters need assistance with reading and school homework, being loved, and told that the world is good. Teens needing guidance, assurance, and validation. Parents open to "parenting advice " and validation. Older and wiser persons needing various kinds of assistance. Churches need everyone's participation and willing discipleship.
Maybe, just maybe, we begin the year in a simple manner...
