Holy Orders is the sacrament through which the mission entrusted by Christ to his apostles continues to be exercised in the Church until the end of time: thus it is the sacrament of apostolic ministry. It includes three degrees: episcopate, presbyterate, and diaconate. Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1536
“The priesthood is the love of the heart of Jesus. When you see a priest, think of our Lord Jesus Christ.” — Saint John Vianney, patron saint of parish priests
"The priest is not a priest for himself; he does not give himself absolution; he does not administer the Sacraments to himself. He is not for himself, he is for you. After God, the priest is everything. ... The priesthood is the love of the Heart of Jesus. When you see the priest, think of Our Lord Jesus Christ." —St. John Vianney
“What will you do with your life? What are your plans? Have you ever thought of committing your existence totally to Christ? Do you think that there can be anything greater than to bring Jesus to people and people to Jesus?” –SaintJohn Paul II
“Dear young people: Do not be afraid of Christ. He takes nothing away, and He gives you everything. When we give ourselves to Him, we receive a hundredfold in return.” –Pope Benedict XVI
