I don't think that you and I differ on what it means to live as a Catholic, as a disciple of Jesus, who is God. Included in our beliefs are these: belief that the Triune God is creator of all things, without a beginning nor an end… eternal. That we are to love God, trust in God, believe in God’s dictates, the Ten Commandments, and love our neighbor as ourself. We are to protect life. I repeat we are to protect life.
How is it that a Catholic who is governor of New York State supported legislation and signed a law that legalizes abortions right up to the time of birth?
On January 23, neighboring Vermont introduced H-0057. 'Every individual who becomes pregnant has the fundamental right to choose to carry a pregnancy to term, give birth to a child, or to have an abortion. A fertilized egg, embryo, or fetus shall not have independent rights under Vermont law.’ There were 91 authors of this bill and Catholics among them. The bill has since been tabled by a House Committee.

I have a point here to offer. There is craziness going on in politics and in education.
There is changing personal and family values, in adherence to religious doctrine and dogma, and a turning away from God. Maybe not in your home or in our parish, but who would deny the larger reality?
Soon, we will enter the season of penitence, prayer, and helping others. It is the liturgical time of Lent. We will hear the admonishment of " Return to me..." Like you, I pray that this country, where we live, wakes up to the reality that we have turned away from God. We need to stop the lies, the excuses, the decision not to get involved, failure to stand up for God, being a Catholic, honoring our vows and promises in the Sacraments.
